About
Founded in 1889 by Joaquín Martínez Bujanda in Oyón, Rioja, this family winery has grown through five generations into a portfolio of five distinctive estates across Spain’s premier appellations. The fourth and fifth generations, led by Carlos and Pilar Martínez Bujanda, operate over 750 hectares of estate vineyards including Finca Valpiedra (La Rioja), Finca Antigua (La Mancha with 421 hectares at 900m elevation), Finca Montepedroso (Rueda), and Viña Bujanda. Since the 1990s, sustainability has been a cornerstone—Finca Antigua pioneered eco-friendly practices including nanotechnology for crop management, zero-residue viticulture, water-saving artificial grass, and self-supply photovoltaic installations. As members of the prestigious Grandes Pagos de España association, they champion the concept of Vino de Pago—wines that authentically express their unique terroirs through meticulous single-vineyard craftsmanship.
